These pictures were take 1/7/06 with a Nikon D70 camera and a Sigma 500mm lens.Click on any image to see a larger picture.
To see the Barred Owl, enter the north entrance to the park and take the paved path west of the north parking lot (by the restrooms). Go right at the tee and continue into the woodlot. About 25 yards past the information board by the swampy area is a beech tree on the left--west side. (There are red-tipped marker stakes on both sides of the path.) 10 or so yards to the west of that beech is another. The Barred was in that 2nd tree.
Glacier Ridge is one of the Columbus Metro Parks and is located northwest of Dublin. Take the 161 exit off of 33 to the east--turn north at the first road; the south entrance will come up on the left--the north entrance is farther up the road.
For those of you with a GPS, the coordinates from where the pictures were taken are
N40° 09.369'
W083° 12.047' (Map Datum WGS 84). A degree of accuracy of 19 feet was indicated by the unit.
