We birded three areas of the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge
1) The Freeland Road area including most of Forest Road 80 and the Idleman's Run Trail.
2) The Beall Trail and the road leading into the parking lot for that trail.
3) A-Frame Road--this road is poorly maintained and not recommended for vehicles with low road clearance. The road to the first kiosk is passable.
The number after the species refers to these three areas.
The "*" indicates that this was a first time for us seeing the particular species in the Refuge area.
The "+" indicates multiple sightings of the species.
This took place in September on the 28th and 29th of 2004.
The weather was sunny with mild temperatures.
